About the Musician

Charles Chazzy Green

Charles "Chazzy" Green, a highly-acclaimed
international musician, has the charisma and
creativity to captivate music lovers of all ages.

Detroit-born Charles "Chazzy" Green received
classical training in both Clarinet and Flute.
Something deep inside beckoned to his spirit.
He switched to Alto and Tenor Saxophones and
began to explore blues, rock, jazz and fusion.
While attending Howard University to study music,
Chazzy discovered that his musical roots extended
back to his grandfather who had played trumpet in
an all Black brass band in the 1920's. He found
that his family's artistic traits stretched out
to include other family members who were well
known in the music industry, i.e., Lester Bowie
and Byron Bowie, esteemed musical legends and
founders of The Art Ensemble of Chicago. Chazzy's
musical influences include Sonny Stitt, Cannonball
Adderley, and Eddie Harris on saxophone, as well
as Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and The Gang, The
Ohio Players and Jimi Hendricks. Having established
his rich musical past and armed with a #2 hit as
a member of Nature's Divine, Chazzy left Howard
and headed for Los Angeles where Ray Parker Jr.
took him under his wing and showed Chazzy the
musical ropes, L.A. style. Parker's unrivaled
guitar work can be heard on Chazzy's debut
release, "Street Sax". Chazzy became friends with Howard Hewitt. They hit it off and Chazzy played in
Hewitt's band. He also toured with The Brand New Heavies, Tracie Spencer, Caron Wheeler, DJ Quik, WAR,
Bobby Womack, Cameo as well as The Brothers Johnson, whom he is currently on tour with.

Chazzy's debut recording as an entertainer and a leader is "Street Sax" --- Chazzy's prelude to the world
of his unique blend of highly energetic, emotionally charged, funky infectious grooves with pop and jazz
themes and hip-hop undertones. Originally released in 2000 in the mid-west and Japan, "Street Sax" has sold
over ten thousand units for Chazzy's Green Jeanz Records label. It was when Chazzy was with the funk group,
The Brothers Johnson, that a new moniker came up and stuck, The Funky Sax Man. Chazzy's latest CD, entitled
accordingly, "The Funky Sax Man", shows his ability to mix diverse musical forms into one appetizing whole
which goes down smooth and funky as the silky tones that come out of his horn. He displays his proficiency
on Flute, Alto and Tenor Saxophones, Keys, Synth Bass, Percussion and even Vocals.

Funky is as funky does, and Chazzy is Funky. Chazzy's interpretation of the Stylistic's classic, "Children
of the Night" is downright sultry and sensual. But don't forget the Funk because Chazzy hasn't. Indeed, one
of Chazzy's hottest songs is the title track and the soon to be hit, "The Funky Sax Man". Other cuts like
"It's Alright", "Summertime Fun", and "Best Friend", also show Chazzy's grooveable funkability. Feel free to
close your eyes and experience the music.

"The Funky Sax Man" is Chazzy's unique expression of his personal and artistic journey. From Detroit to D.C.
to Japan, Chazzy has defined and refined his playing style. He has become one with his instrument: spiritually,
mentally and technically. His music reflects his character and leaves a positive impression on the minds of his
listeners. "The Funky Sax Man" is a reflection of his past, present and future. The past is history, but the
present and future will surely see Chazzy soaring to new heights as "The Funky Sax Man".

Come see and hear Charles "Chazzy" Green at the SBAHFS Art Exhibit Reception on Thursday, February 19, 2009
at 6:00 PM --- It's FREE!
